Britney Spears Helps Take "Glee" To The Top With Record Ratings, Digital Sales.....

She did it again. The highly anticipated Britney Spears tribute episode of "Glee" finally aired last night and the results are in: having Spears on your show is anything but "Toxic." The "Glee" cast version of her hit is currently #1 on iTunes and ratings for the show hit a series high.
The Britney Spears episode of "Glee" earned 13.3 million viewers and a 5.8 demo rating, the best ratings ever for the musical dramedy. According to Fox, it's also the first time in 17 years that the "highest-rated entertainment program of premiere week grew in Week 2 among adults 18-49 and total viewers" when "Seinfeld" did it in 1993.
On the episode, Britney was the word on everyone's lips, so deep in their subconscious that a few visits to the dentist, played by John Stamos, meant the "Glee" gang got to live out their Britney Spears fantasies…performing the pop queen's hits in music video recreations of course.
We find out that dimwitted Cheerio Brittany's full name is Brittany S. Pearce, the real Britney likes ranch on her pizza, and that Spears' music can cause an all-out sex riot. Horror! But along the way we learn that Spears has made some real lasting contributions to the world of pop in the form of hits like "..Baby One More Time," "I'm a Slave 4 U," and "Toxic," among others.
"Toxic," sung by the cast in an inventive sort of pop/rockapella hybrid, is currently the #1 song on iTunes. Songs from the "Britney/Brittany" episode of "Glee" make up half of the top 10, with "..Baby One More Time," "Stronger," "I'm a Slave 4 U," and even a cover of Paramore's "The Only Exception," all charting high. "Me Against the Music" is just outside the top 10 as well.
Last week's cover of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind" was also the top track on iunes, even setting a record for the biggest first day sales of any "Glee" track. The New Directions' "Toxic" seems like it has enough fans to overtake it. Among them? Spears herself.
"I loved it! Thank you guys SO much for making this happen!" Spears tweeted while watching the episode.
